In order to have the strong, healthy, and stunning smile you want this summer, you need to take good care of your teeth and gums. To help you do that, our dental team recommends you follow these guidelines:
-Keep up on your oral hygiene: Remember to properly clean your smile each day by brushing, flossing, and rinsing. As you do these things, use a soft-bristled toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, and antibacterial mouthwash. It’s also important to keep your six month checkup appointment so that our dental team can help to prevent tooth decay and gum disease by removing the plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth and underneath your gumline.
-Wear a mouthguard: Mouthguards are very handy, especially if you’re participating in high-contact sports and activities. If you wear a mouthguard while you are active, you will protect your smile from the hard, forceful objects that hit it. You can purchase a mouthguard at any sporting goods store, or you can talk to your dentist about a custom-made mouthguard.
-Be smart while traveling: Remember to always pack your oral hygiene supplies and tools. It’s best to put your toothbrush in a plastic container so the bristles don’t get squished or flattened. It’s also important to remember that you can only carry a small tube of toothpaste and mouthwash, no more than 3 ounces, if you are traveling on a plane.
You can also brighten your smile with the teeth-whitening treatment that our dentists, Dr. Fisher and Dr. Bergevin provide in our office. This treatment is a great way to quickly and successfully achieve a whiter and brighter smile.
